Ledger Live Setup & Getting Started Guide

This guide will show you how to securely install Ledger Live, set up your Ledger hardware wallet, and begin managing your crypto.

1. Download Ledger Live

  • Go to the official Ledger website.
  • Choose the Ledger Live version for your operating system: Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, or Android.
  • Download and install the app.

Security Tip: Only download Ledger Live from the official Ledger site. Fake apps can steal your funds.

2. Connect & Initialize Your Ledger Device

  1. Connect your Ledger hardware wallet (Nano X, Nano S Plus, Stax, etc.) to your computer or phone.
  2. On the device, choose “Set up as new device.”
  3. Create a PIN code (4–8 digits).
  4. The device will generate a 24-word recovery phrase — write it down on paper or metal. Do not store it digitally.
  5. Confirm your recovery phrase by entering the requested words on the device.

Security Reminder: Ledger Live will never ask for your recovery phrase online. Anyone requesting it is a scam.

3. Install Cryptocurrency Apps & Add Accounts

  1. Open Ledger Live and go to the Manager section.
  2. Install the apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to use.
  3. Add accounts for each crypto in Ledger Live.
  4. Your public addresses will appear in Ledger Live, but private keys remain offline on your device.

4. Using Ledger Live

  • Receive crypto: Always verify your address on your device before sharing it.
  • Send crypto: Confirm transactions on your hardware device.
  • Buy, swap, and stake supported cryptocurrencies.
  • Track your portfolio with real-time balances.
  • Ledger Live also supports NFTs and certain DeFi interactions depending on your device.
