🔐 Trezor® Hardware® Wallet | Starting Up Your Device
📦 Before You Begin
Make sure you have:
- Your new Trezor device (Trezor Model T or Trezor One)
- A computer with internet access
- The official Trezor Suite app installed
- The USB cable included in the box
🔎 Always check that the device packaging is intact and untampered.
🚀 Step-by-Step: Starting Up Your Trezor
1️⃣ Connect Your Device
Plug your Trezor into your computer using the USB cable.
The device will power on automatically.
2️⃣ Open Trezor Suite
Launch the official Trezor Suite app on your computer.
Trezor Suite will detect your device and guide you through setup.
3️⃣ Install Firmware
If your Trezor is brand new, you’ll be prompted to install the latest firmware.
- Confirm the installation directly on your Trezor screen
- Never install firmware from unofficial sources
This ensures your device is running secure, verified software.
4️⃣ Create or Recover a Wallet
Choose one of the following:
- Create a new wallet (recommended for new users)
- Recover an existing wallet using your recovery seed
Follow the instructions carefully on both Trezor Suite and the device screen.
5️⃣ Write Down Your Recovery Seed
Your Trezor will display a recovery seed phrase:
- Write it down on paper
- Store it offline in a secure location
- Never photograph or type it on a computer
This seed is the only backup to your funds.
6️⃣ Set a PIN
Create a PIN code to protect your device from unauthorized access.
Each incorrect attempt increases the delay, preventing brute-force attacks.
🛡️ Optional Security Enhancements
- Enable passphrase protection for an extra layer of security
- Create hidden wallets tied to unique passphrases
- Review device security settings in Trezor Suite
✅ After Setup: What’s Next?
Once your device is ready, you can:
- Receive Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies
- Send transactions securely
- Manage multiple accounts
- Connect to supported third-party apps if needed
Every transaction must be confirmed on the Trezor device, keeping you in full control.
🧠 Important Safety Tips
- Never share your recovery seed
- Trezor support will never ask for your seed
- Keep firmware and Trezor Suite updated
- Always verify addresses on the device screen
